enhancements
and bug fixes implemented in version 3.01.05:
- The ODBC
functionality has been enhanced to better support
the Ingres database. In certain situations, a
user could be told that the table(s) contained
too many records for a database refresh to be
performed properly, when in fact the table(s) did
not have too many records.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.01.04:
- A bug that would
cause netViz to crash while performing a save
operation after various grouping and ungrouping
operations has been corrected.
- A bug in the
"Publish to Web Server" feature that
would cause many temporary files to be left in
the temporary files directory after a publishing
operation completed has been corrected.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.01.03:
- A bug that prevented
netViz from completely terminating after it was
run by an OLE Automation controller has been
corrected.
- The "Publish to
Web Server" feature has been enhanced to
better support Oracle and some other databases.
- The ODBC
functionality has been enhanced to better support
the MySQL database.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.01.02:
- A bug that would
cause netViz to crash while importing certain
projects has been corrected. The crash occurred
in the following scenario:
- Assume that
projects P1 and P2 are each based on
catalog C, and have already been created.
- The user
edits catalog C.
- The user
opens project P1 and netViz resolves the
changes made to the catalog since P1 was
last open.
- The user
then attempts to import project P2 into
project P1.
- A problem in which
certain snap-in module menu items were not
displayed properly after a snap-in module was
loaded has been corrected.
- A problem in which
certain snap-in module menu items were not
removed from the display after a snap-in module
was unloaded has been corrected.
- A bug in the Viewer
that prevented "drill down" into a node
that had a label displayed on top has been
corrected.
- In the "Publish
to Web Server" feature, individual Inspector
data fields are no longer limited to a length of
256 characters.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.01.01:
- A bug that would
prevent certain WMF and NVM files from being read
properly has been corrected.
- A bug that would
prevent certain snap-in modules from loading has
been corrected.
- A bug that would
cause netViz to crash while performing a refresh
from an ODBC database in which there were null
reference objects has been corrected.
- A bug in which
editing changes made to the fields of a reference
object were discarded, i.e., not saved, has been
corrected. This bug occurred when a diagram was
displayed in table view.
- A bug that would
cause netViz to crash when importing a CSV file
has been corrected. The crash occurred when
netViz was running on Windows NT and attempted to
import a CSV file which contained links with
invalid end points.
- Text that was
missing from the Network Discovery dialog has
been added.
- A problem with
catalog editing in which an empty popup window
was displayed over an empty list entry has been
corrected.
- A bug in which the
alias indicator state was not saved properly in
the project file has been corrected.
- A bug in which the
parent was not displayed correctly in the search
results window has been corrected. This bug
occurred when the parent was a container.
- The "Publish as
HTML" feature has been re-added to the
Standard Edition.
- A bug that would
cause netViz to crash when the user selected an
invalid WMF file as a node symbol has been
corrected.
- A bug that would
cause netViz to crash when the user attempted to
insert an invalid WMF file into a project has
been corrected.
- Palettes can no
longer be dragged so far off the screen as to be
invisible.
- A bug that would
cause netViz to crash while the user scrolled
through a node or link palette containing more
than 1000 objects has been corrected.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.01.00:
- The netViz API has
been added to the netViz Developer's Kit (nDK).
Users can use the API to extend and augment
netViz functionality by writing software modules
that run as part of netViz.
- The
"Locate|Selected Objects" menu command
has been added to the Diagram menu.
- The ODBC
functionality has been enhanced so that the user
may now remap an already connected database
connection.
- The
"Display/Hide All Palettes" menu
command has been added to the View menu.
- The "Align
Connected Objects..." menu command has been
added to the Object menu. This command allows the
user to align all the objects that are connected
to the selected objects. It is helpful when
arranging connections to objects like a hub with
multiple ports.
- Page margin settings
can now be applied to all pages.
- Alias indicators can
now be turned off in the Display dialog that is
invoked from the Diagram menu.
- The user can now
follow an inherited link by double-clicking on
its end point. In response to the double-click,
netViz will open the next sub-level and highlight
and flash the inherited link.
- A bug that would
cause a general protection fault to occur while
scrolling a composite view that was too large to
be displayed in its entirety has been corrected.
- A problem with
program launch that caused a crash in the latest
version of Office has been corrected.
- "Save As"
now works properly when the file name has not
changed.
- The main object of a
group object will now show its launch options
properly.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.00.06:
- A problem associated
with importing data from a CSV file in which the
unique key was greater than 32 characters in
length has been corrected. When the key was
greater than 32 characters in length,
unpredictable results would occur, such as the
creation of duplicate objects.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.00.05:
- A bug associated
with list fields has been corrected. If the user
had an override string in an object, and then
edited the catalog and made modifications to any
of the other fields in the corresponding type
definition, then the override string would be
lost.
- A bug associated
with exporting a subdiagram has been corrected.
If the subdiagram contains diagrams that are part
of the composite views, the composite views are
no longer exported.
- Two problems
associated with ODBC database refresh have been
corrected.
- When a
refresh involving a composite key was
performed, netViz would create two
objects in the diagram for each database
record. The first object would contain
only the first composite field containing
data. The second object would contain all
the data fields properly filled with
data.
- When a
refresh was performed after a database
table column had been renamed or removed,
netViz would put data into the wrong
fields in netViz objects.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.00.04:
- A problem in which
projects could not be written on the local drives
of IBM Thinkpads has been corrected.
- The Publish As HTML
feature now writes all files with lower case
names, and refers to these files with lower case
names in the HTML code, so as to better support
Unix environments.
- A problem with
project printing has been corrected. The problem
occurred when a diagram based on an alias was
exported from a project and then subsequently
opened as the root of a new project.
- A minor fix was made
to NetWare discovery to help with NDS
environments. If you are logged into the NDS
tree, netViz will now properly authenticate the
server you are discovering.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.00.03:
- The Viewer now
displays any changes that were made to the
catalog after the project was created. It
displays the changes in a manner similar to that
of the Professional and Standard Editions. The
Viewer automatically applies the changes to the
project for viewing and then discards them upon
exit (since the Viewer will not allow you to save
changes).
- A problem with
Locate Sub-Diagrams has been corrected. A GPF
would occur if a node which "can change
shape," such as the network segment object,
had children.
- Problems associated
with the large font display and presentation of
the inspector in the catalog have been corrected.
- A bug in Web
Publishing has been corrected. Inspector data
fields are now always displayed in the same order
in both the published project and in netViz.
- A problem with copy
& paste has been corrected. Now backgrounds
are included with the "select all"
function if group objects are present.
- A problem in which a
.$$$ temp file could not be written has been
corrected. The problem occurred on local or
networked drives which had more than 2 GB of free
space when a user attempted to "save
as" or open a project in which the catalog
had changed.
- A problem with
"Diagram|Save As Graphic" under Windows
NT 4.0 has been corrected.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.00.02:
- CTL3DV2.DLL has been
added to the 16-bit Viewer distribution. The
Viewer copies this file to the Windows system
directory if necessary.
- A problem with the
attributes that are displayed when 2.5a files are
converted to 3.0 files has been corrected.
- The "Erase
Node's Links" menu option under Composite
View is now grayed if you are not viewing a
composite view diagram.
- An import project
bug has been corrected. This bug would cause the
import to fail when more than one alias object
was present in the project to be imported.
- "Display"
dialog replaces "Hide Components": node
labels, link labels, subnet indicator.
- The following new
project menu options have been added:
- "Diagram
| Background | Hide"
- "Diagram
| Display..."
- "Diagram
| Hide | Reference nodes"
- "Diagram
| Hide | Interdiagram links"
- "Diagram
| Hide | Single diagram links"
- The new catalog menu
option "Object | New Linenode" has been
added.
- The menu accelerator
has been removed.
- The "Diagram |
Display" dialog has been changed to have an
"Apply To All" checkbox.
- A hierarchy
browser-related bug has been corrected. This bug
would cause netViz to crash after the following
series of events:
- A lower
level diagram or view that is missing
reference objects is loaded via the
hierarchy browser.
- A summary is
created.
- A "Save
And Compact" or "Import
Project" operation is executed.
- The toggle style
operation now displays the proper text in the
undo menu. It was "Undo Operation" but
is now "Undo Toggle Style".
- A bug in Composite
View, in which very large page sizes were not
added to the Composite View, has been corrected.
- The example file
name has been changed from "Global
Network.net" to "Global.net" to
accommodate systems in which the CD-ROM drives
are not properly reading long file names.
- The demo will no
longer allow you to replace the catalog of a new
project.
- The viewer (16-
& 32-bit) will by default make a read-only
copy of the .net file. To override this behavior,
you must pass the new option "/vnc" on
the command line. The "/vnc" option
stands for "viewer no copy." This
option may be desirable for customers who place
very large .net files in a read-only directory,
while the author or administrator of the .net
file has access to a private copy in another
directory.
enhancements and bug
fixes implemented in version 3.00.01:
- The text of some of
the replace catalog and merge catalog messages
has been changed.
- Data export has been
enhanced so that it always searches for objects
in memory before reading a temporary instance
from disk. The problem was detected when a link
that had an alias as an end point was being
exported.
- A problem with
Compact Project and Composite Views has been
corrected. The problem would cause the object
count to be inaccurate when exporting, but it did
not affect the integrity of the data.
- A bug related to
replace catalog has been corrected. This bug
would cause netViz to crash after the following
series of events:
- The first
instance of object type X is added to a
diagram.
- The catalog
is replaced by a catalog that does not
contain object type X.
- The F3 key
is pressed to edit the catalog.
- The F3 key
is pressed to switch back to the project.
- The Viewer help menu
no longer contains the "netViz on the
Web" menu option.
- Several problems
related to the Uniform Naming Conventions (UNC)
syntax and operations have been corrected so that
you can now open netViz files and associated
databases without having drive mappings available
for specific paths.
- A bug related to the
settings in "snap to grid" has been
corrected. This bug caused netViz to crash.
- NVOLES32.DLL has
been added to the Standard Edition distribution.
This file enables the OLE Automation interface.
- A bug that caused
netViz to crash when an array of objects was
resized back to 1 x 1 has been corrected.
- The field palettes
used to view objects in the catalog have been
enhanced.
- A bug that would
cause some data import operations to crash in the
Windows NT environment has been corrected.
- For server
installations, netviz.ini is now automatically
copied to the workstation's Windows directory.
This avoids the problem of not having the
"proper" .ini file on the workstation,
and ensures access to graphic filters.
- A problem with
"previewing a reference to an alias
node" has been corrected.
- A problem with the
"Launch" command, in which the first
character of the parameter string was truncated,
has been corrected.
- A bug that would
cause the Standard Edition to crash has been
corrected. The crash occurred when the Standard
Edition was used to view a project that had been
created by the Professional Edition, and then the
key field drop down list box was selected.
