netViz Inova - Data

Communicate your ideas

If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a netViz diagram is worth 10,000 words. That's because it interactively shows graphics, data, structures and relationships in ways no simple picture can. It's the most thorough way to communicate your thoughts.

In publishing your documentation, it's important to provide interactivity as well as information. Interactivity helps others see what you see, and understand the logic behind your decisions and recommendations. netViz offers several options for publishing interactive files:

netViz Navigator can be used to:

  • View diagrams.
  • Zoom and scroll.
  • Navigate multilevel projects using the Hierarchy Browser.
  • Examine object data using the Inspector.
  • Print diagrams, the Browser and the Inspector.

Your files are safe because the Navigator doesn't permit changes. It is also cost effective.

HTML export
Publish entire projects on the Internet or a corporate intranet. A single netViz command generates hyperlinked GIF images and HTML pages. You can set image size to balance image resolution against file size. View the pages using any Web browser. Click nodes to drill down into the diagram hierarchy.

Web publishing
With netViz Professional Edition, one command generates a Web server database from your documentation. This function goes beyond HTML export to allow people accessing the database through a Web browser to:

  • View diagrams.
  • Navigate using a hierarchical drawing list similar to the netViz Hierarchy Browser.
  • Examine embedded object data in a frame similar to the netViz Inspector.

System administrators and advanced users can follow instructions in the netViz user's guide to set up a netViz Web database shell and the server on which it resides. The database receives output from netViz Web publishing sessions, and provides input to a set of Active Server Pages (ASP) scripts (supplied) that deliver HTML pages to users for viewing with Web browsers. Once the Web publishing server is configured, netViz users can publish their documentation using a single command.
