netViz 4.0 Build History

The following major enhancements and bug fixes were made to the product in the last update:

• corrected a problem that could occur during interactions with ODBC databases that require log-ins, such as SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2 -- In Catalog editing mode, the user was able to select and "OK" a table for database connection, but when the table appeared in the catalog editing window, only the key field appeared, and it was grayed. None of the data fields appeared.
• corrected an unlikely, but possible, problem that could cause a buffer overflow during a refresh from database operation
• added support for the new SQL Server data type GUID (universal ID)

The following major enhancements and bug fixes were made to the product in previous updates: 

• corrected a problem that could cause netViz to crash when an external catalog was closed while an object in that catalog was being previewed
• corrected a problem that could cause netViz to crash while reordering a "dangling" link to a position above or below nodes
• enhanced command line interface to support automatic (driven by operating system task scheduler) database refresh, Web Publishing, and HTML Publishing.
• corrected a problem that occurred during Web Publishing with Access 2000 as the target database: netViz would crash, due to an Access 2000 ODBC driver bug, if the Web Publishing tables did not exist in the database at the time publishing was attempted.
• upgraded the Web Publishing database format so as to support Web Publishing Server Software 2.0
• corrected various problems with catalog synchronization
• changed behavior of database refresh/import with respect to existing inter-diagram links: The existing inter-diagram links are no longer deleted and then re-added if their endpoints correspond with those in the external data. This change prevents the positions of the corresponding reference nodes from being lost.
• corrected a problem with HTML Publishing that prevented published output from being displayed properly under Internet Explorer 5.0
• added support for user configuration of scroll bar sizes.
• added new Automation functions RefreshProjectByInst, RefreshProjectByType, UpdateDatabaseByInst, and UpdateDatabaseByType
• added new API functions ParentSetPageSize, ViewGetViewInfo, ViewScrollBy, AppGetFilterOpts, AppSetFilterOpts, ParentApplyViewFilter, ParentRemoveViewFilter, ParentChangeDisplayState, and InstGetDisplayState
• corrected a problem with the graphics database caused by previous updates which resulted in certain categories having no graphics
• added support for exporting to PowerPoint 2000
• added "Visual Override Summary" feature
• corrected a problem with the handling of "dangling" inter-diagram links that could cause data corruption during a Compact Project operation
• corrected a problem with the graphics database, observed only with certain international versions of Windows, that would cause netViz to crash during initialization
• added "Print Templates" feature
• added "Visio Drawing Import" feature
• added support for default field values
• enhanced double-click override so that it can be set to one of the command fields
• added "Diagram | Locate | Double-click Objects" menu command
• added new tool bars to the palettes so as to allow easier access to palette options
