netViz Inova - Data

Save time and effort

If you have a Windows NT or NetWare network, netViz Professional Edition can automatically draw it for you. In response to a single command, netViz gathers information about certain network components and how they are interconnected. Then it generates a logical diagram. During the same process, netViz embeds data describing the network components it found. This function saves hours -- even days -- of effort.

Discovery options

Choose which network elements to discover. netViz can find any of the following elements and associated data:

  • Servers
    • Server Name
    • Network OS
    • CPU Type
    • Internal Address
    • Domain Name
    • LAN Address
  • Clients
    • MAC Address
    • User Name
    • Operating System
    • and other details
  • Volumes
    • Volume Name
    • Size (in MB)
    • Free Size (in MB)
  • Shared Printers
    • Printer Name

Set the range of discovery. Direct netViz to examine one or more domains, just the Windows NT or NetWare portion of a mixed OS system, or the entire network.

Pick a layout. Have netViz diagram the entire network on a single page, or devote a page to each server.

Customize the results. After you perform a network discovery, you can:

  • Rearrange the diagram to show the network's physical configuration or logical organization.
  • Assign your own graphical symbols to network hardware.
  • Add and delete data fields to match your information needs.
  • Update the documentation at any time. Through the same discovery command, refresh the documentation to reflect new components and interconnections.
